“I Guess We Are Both A Little Strange” – Dragonball Episode 024

In this video, Crillen and Goku are on stage being interviewed after they have both won their fights. Goku has just embarrassed everyone by pulling his pants down. Crillen makes a comment that Goku is a strange character, complete with a tail.

Goku smiles, starts rubbing Crillen’s head and says “you are a little strange yourself”.

Crillen reacts to Goku rubbing his head by straightening his body and looking down.

It is not happenstance that Goku put his hand on Crillen’s head. Remember that the premise of this blog is that the Japanese creators of the cartoon put their knowledge of life and kung fu into the cartoon. They did not make it all up.

Goku purposefully reaches over and rubs that particular spot on Crillen’s head. If you watch Crillen’s head when he is talking to Goku, his head is twisted on his neck and looking slighty upwards. If you understand body language, this tells you something about the individual.

The position of Crillen’s head tells Goku that Crillen is a strange person. Because Crillen is a kung fu man, he is self aware. This means that you know what your weaknesses are and you are able to face them. When Goku rubs his head, Crillen understands exactly what Goku is pointing out. He is upset by this but he cannot become angry because he knows that Goku is correct. Crillen is strange because of the body anomaly that Goku has pointed out.

Watch Crillen’s head before and after Goku rubs it. Goku could have rubbed Crillen anywhere or touched him anywhere. Why did the cartoonists have Goku touch Crillen right where he did? Why does Crillen bashfully accept Goku’s statement instead of getting mad and denying what Goku says?
