Why Do Some People Cringe In Fear While Others Laugh? – Dragonball Episode 011

Have you ever noticed how some people become frightened and act that way? They cringe, moan, shiver or other fear related actions? But other people, they don’t seem to care. They will act bored, brave, sad, happy….anything but frightened.

Why do they do this?

Fear is a physical thing inside of the body. The body contracts, causing the mouth or eyes or face or body to contract and produce the commonly known fear reactions. When a person ignores fear, they are ignoring these physical effects. Their mental state influences the physical reaction of the body.

In this video, the bad guys have trapped Goku, Bulma and Oolong in a room. Bulma and Oolong are frightened. They are shivering and making faces and yelling and their bodies become distorted. Goku acts like he is dumb. He acts like he does not understand why Bulma and Oolong are frightened. Why does he do this? Is he really blind to their fear?

No. He is trying to dissolve or destroy their fear. When Bulma and Oolong feel fear, the physically put out fear energy. They want to put the fear energy on Goku because he is strong. Goku of course does not want the fear energy. It will make him fearful and physically ill.

Goku ignores them and pretends he does not understand their fear for a reason. A very basic idea behind magic or dreams or mystical types of events is that belief is at the heart of their power. Bulma and Oolong believe they should be fearful. If Goku’s belief that they are in no danger is stronger, then the fear energy that Bulma and Oolong are putting out will be dissolved because they no longer believe in it.

This does not happen. Bulma and Oolong are still scared in spite of Goku’s dumb act. It is the nature of fear and fearful persons to exert their utmost effort to transfer the fear to another person. Because Goku is not accepting the fear, Bulma tries even harder. She raises her voice and yells that they are going to be killed. Just about the most fearful idea a person could have.

At this point, Bulma’s fear is so strong that Goku is forced to resort to physical measures. Watch what he does. He acts like he finally understands that they are going to be killed and then he starts laughing. Laughing is like deep breathing. Much more air than normal is taken into the body. This produces more energy in the body. Goku laughs so that his body produces more energy so that he can resist Bulma’s increased fear energy when she says they are all going to die.

The next video is an entirely different subject. In this video, Emperor Pilaf is going to torture information out of Bulma. He tells her he is going to torture her, then he begins to laugh maniacally. When he does his face changes so that the center of it becomes dark.

If you can figure out why the drawing of his face is changed in the specific way it is, you will understand a very basic principle of how the body moves and the art of kung fu.
