The picture below shows two men next to each other.
The head of the man on the left looks strong, thick, and mostly straight up and down. Most people would feel the man would be mentally strong with a strong personality. The head of the man on the right has a softer look. His head is slightly rotated and tilted, he wears glasses, and his mouth is slightly open. All of those characteristics indicate the man on the right would be a softer kind of man than the man on the left. Those common sense impressions of the men are Phrenology. The life experience of the viewer in looking at the heads of other human beings, leads the viewer to make certain conclusions about the personality and mentality of the men in the picture above, that are partly based on the size and shape of the head and face of the men. An individual who is truly interested in Phrenology, will want to know that the hair on the head is also an indicator of the mentality and personality of a human being. The straight and managed hair on the head of the man on the left reinforces the impression of hardness given by his face and head. The flyaway and unkempt hair of the man on the right reinforces the softer impression given by the size and shape of the head of the man on the right. |
