Kung Fu and Music |

Listening to music affects the mind. The mind is affected on more than just a pleasure / displeasure level. Listening to different types of music can open or close the mind, meaning certain areas of the mind will work well or will work poorly. It seems obvious that a kung fu man would want all of the areas of his mind to work well, to go along with all of the effort he puts into making his body work well. That would imply that a kung fu man would want to listen to music that would open all of areas of his mind as much as possible. A kung fu man will benefit from listening to proper types of music. These types of music will open the mind of the kung fu man in such a way that it will facilitate the changes that the physical practice of kung fu makes in their bodies. |

One way to visualize why opening the mind is beneficial to the progress of physical kung fu, is to visualize the human body as consisting of pipes that carry some kind of fluid around the body. There are pipes to the arms, the legs, and the torso. All of the pipes that travel through the rest of the body, also travel through the head. A person with a closed mind would be a person in whom some of the pipes were blocked off in the head. Because the pipe is carrying fluid to the rest of the body, if the head part of the pipe is blocked off, then the fluid in the pipe cannot flow through the rest of the body as it should. Because the body is designed to have fluid flowing through the pipes in this visualization of the human body, any part of the body that did not have fluid flowing through the pipes would not work to it's fullest efficiency. The thing the reader wants to keep in mind from this visualization is: " Something going on with the mind can interfere with or limit any and all physical activity of the rest of the body " ------------------------------------------------------------------------- How would the kung fu man know what kinds of music to listen to? Religious kinds of music would be an obvious candidate for a kung fu man to listen to. Religious music is supposed to make people religious. Being religious is supposed to be like being closer to God. God is supposed to be a super kind of being, and a kung fu man is a super kind of being, so a kung fu man would benefit from being like God. Almost any kind of "good" religious music will benefit a kung fu man. Pick any country on the planet earth, pick one of the religions of that country, and listen to it's music. You will most likely benefit. It was stressed that a kung fu man will benefit from "good" religious music. Music can have a detrimental effect on the mind as well as a beneficial effect on the mind. There are some types of music a kung fu man would want to avoid. Music that was associated with religions considered "bad" would be music a kung fu man would want to avoid. You must be careful though in deciding what makes a religion bad. A religion is not bad because the newspapers say so. A bad religion would be pretty obvious. Any religion that involved hurting people against their will would be a bad religion. Any religion that had an association with the worship of evil or demons would be music that would most likely be detrimental to a kung fu man. --------------------------------------------------------------- A kung fu man will benefit from listening to music from countries other than their own. The body of a human being will get used to the music of the country or area or group they are a part of. That certain style or type of music will open and strengthen a certain section of the brain. Not many styles of music will open the entire brain. For that reason, a kung fu man would want to listen to the music of other countries or groups to see if they would open his brain in a way that it was not already opened. One way to tell if your brain is open to a particular kind of music is to listen to it and see if you can stand it. If you can't stand a certain kind of music, then your brain is probably closed to it. This is excluding of course any kind of obnoxious or painful music. A person who cannot stand loud heavy metal music does not need to be concerned their brain is closed to heavy metal. What most kung fu men will find is that if they listen to music from say the country of India, the instruments they use to play the music, and the melodies and rythyms of the music will aggravate the kung fu man. The initial reaction will be "I do not like that music". That is a sign of your brain being closed to that style of music. If you can, and you should be able to since kung fu is about discipline, listen to the music you do not like until it does not bother you anymore, or until you begin to like it. When you are able to do that, you will be a stronger kung fu man. ------------------------------------------------------------ Some actual recommendations for music would be: Black religious music ( Black religious music will have a tendency to open your heart ) Islamic religious music ( Islamic religious music will open the heart and mind, and raise a person up to be a higher level human being. ) Indian music ( Indian music will open the mind ) New Age music ( New Age music will have a tendency to calm you, make you introspective, empathetic, sympathetic, and possibly more emotinal ) African music ( African music will have a tendency to bring out the physical strength, to increase the overall energy of the body, and to increase the health of the overall body ) Asian music ( Asian music can have a high level effect on the mind ) Any kind of primitive tribal music from anywhere in the world ( Primitive tribal music will help a modern civilized technological person find the animal human being inside of them. ) Chanting ( Chanting of any kind will raise the energy, open the mind, and teach the kung fu man about how hypnosis works. )
