It is popularly claimed and believed that the small feet were a sign of beauty. Many people would interpret the phrase &#8220;a sign of beauty&#8221; as meaning bound feet were pleasing to the eye.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">That is not the case according to this author. Even taking into account that different people find different things pleasurable, doesn&#8217;t that foot look deformed so badly that it might even evoke feelings of disgust in someone?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">If Chinese people are like you or most other people, and that foot looks visually unappealing or perhaps even disgusting to them, why would they engage in the practice of foot binding and why would the popular belief that foot binding was done because it made the women appear beautiful have developed?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Because the Chinese people think in an entirely different way from you or most other people.
