The Architectural Column

The column is considered to be one of the earliest architectural innovations of man.

The architectural column is based on a column or cylinder that can be felt within the human body.

A primitive human being might have thought to themselves “If the cylinder inside of my body can hold me up, why can’t a cylinder hold up something else like the roof of a building?
