This example picture of Anorexia Dent demonstrates a common way that an individual with Anorexia Dent will pose themselves. The right side of the woman’s torso displays a case of Anorexia Dent that is hard to judge the severity of, because of the way the woman’s body is posed.
If the woman was standing normally, the extent of the Anorexia Dent on the right side of her torso could be more accurately gauged.
This woman or other individuals like her with Anorexia Dent will pose this way, because it feels more comfortable for their body. This pose removes stress from their body that is caused by the Anorexia Dent when they are standing normally.
Because of the altered pose of the woman, some of the more common symptoms associated with Anorexia Dent are not present.
The leg opposite the side of the torso with the Anorexia Dent will either lift upward, extend outwards, or rotate outwards. Because of this woman’s posture, her left leg looks normal. If the woman was standing upright in a normal posture, then her left leg would exhibit one of the changes associated with the presence of an Anorexia Dent on the right side of the torso.
The arm on the same side of the body as the Anorexia Dent will become crippled to some extent. The arm will usually be held right next to or laying on the body, or it will be angled far away from the body as the right arm is in this example.
The outward angling of the arm is another movement of the body that is made because it makes the body feel more comfortable. If the arm is allowed to hang normally, the changes to the upper part of the chest caused by the Anorexia Dent will cause discomfort in the arm and shoulder area.
The appearance and location of the shoulder will change on the same side of the body as the Anorexia Dent. The clothing this woman is wearing obscures the right shoulder, so no determination about the right shoulder can be made.
The shrinkage of the side of the torso that causes Anorexia Dent extends up into the head. The head of the woman is tilted downwards and rotated to her left because of the shrinkage of the right side of her head.
The actual shrinkage of the head caused by the Anorexia Dent can be seen by the observant person. It may be difficult to see at first, but the right side of the head has been reduced in size.
